Saturday Summer Nap

Mom caught me. I'm in my favorite summer nap place, under the front of the deck behind the azalia bush. Can you see me there?

Earlier, I went out to snoopervise a bit more and see what those construction guys (Mom calls them destruction guys) have done so far. They're still not done! How long does this take? Mom said that they couldn't work today since the cement didn't set up for the posts to sit on. I don't understand all this stuff, I only know I want them done yesterday!

Look! They not only took the door, they took the step and the sidewalks all the way down the yard! Mom says it will be nice when they're done, I'll have all nice new sidewalks to roll around on. I guess I trust what Mom says, I know she wouldn't lie to me.

That's why I was napping in my favorite spot. All this snoopervising wears me out at my advanced age.

Rusty Snoopervises

Rusty: MOM! Something's happened to my porch!

Mom: Rusty, the construction guys were here and they started working.

Rusty: But, Mom, someone stole the windows! They're gone!

Mom: Rusty, they had to take the windows out so they can put in some nicer new ones.

Rusty: Guess I better look around more and make sure they didn't do anything wrong.

Rusty: Looks like this ladder's ok. I can't wait until they get done so I can have my porch back!

Tongue Tuesday

Ok, so Mom caught me just after I'd had some whipped cream and I was trying to make sure I got every goodness off my lips.

I'm feeling better, Mom tried giving me one more pill this morning and on cue, I threw up two hours after getting it. Mom said enough was enough and she called the vet. They told her to just stop giving me the pills (Yay!) and see how I do. That works for me! I hate those old pills anyhow, but the Greenies Pill Pockets are very good. I'll have some of those without pills, thank you.

Mancat Monday

I know I haven't been feeling real mancatly lately. I want to thank everyone for all their purrs and well wishes. I think I'm starting to feel better. I spent some time outside today exploring the neighbor's bushes (they're gone for the weekend). I've been eating more but I just can't take those pills. They make me hurl and I think Mom is getting tired of cleaning it up. She said she's going to call the vet tomorrow and see what other options we have. Good, I hope there are some, I'm tired of hurling too!

But, I think I kind of wore myself out today so I'll just spend the afternoon taking a nice relaxing nap.

Hope everyone on my side of the pond had a good holiday Monday.

Rusty's Mom Reports

I took Rusty to the Vet today. He wasn't happy about it, but I thought it was best that I did.

His temperature was normal, 101.3. We had some simple blood kidney work done, since he does have some kidney issues and his results, while slightly higher that they were in January, they were not alarming.

The Vet said he was slightly dehydrated, but I think that maybe mostly because he hasn't eaten or drank much in the last couple days. So they gave him some sub-q fluids, just to bring him back up a bit.

The Vet said that she heard some "gurgling" when she listened to him, and thought that maybe he was coming down with an Upper Respirator Infection, so she gave me antibiotics to give him. I gave him one pill when we got home and two hours later, he threw up, I don't know if it's because he took the pill on pretty much an empty stomach and we all know how most antibiotics say not to take them on an empty stomach. I hope that he kept enough in him to improve.

The Vet warned me that because of his age, he could be susceptible to cancer and that if he didn't improve we should look in that direction. I understand that, but I hope that this is just a simple infection and that he improves in a day or two.

Right now, he's sleeping in his bed, and I'm just going to let him rest and keep an eye on him.

Keep Rusty in your prayers, hopefully in a couple days, he'll be back to tell you all about it.

Easy Rainy Sunday

Mom: Rusty! Not again!

Rusty: But, Mom, I had to go out and try to lick all that water off the deck table. It might get ruined from being so wet, you know.

Mom: But, Rusty, that table can get wet, it's glass and metal. It's supposed to be able to sit out in the rain, that's why it's on the deck. And you have a whole bowl full of good water in the kitchen to drink.

Rusty: But that table water tastes so much better.

Mom's thinking of taking me over to the vet. I didn't feel so good yesterday and hardly ate anything except some whipped cream. Mom said I don't look so good today either, but I did eat a little breakfast. It finally stopped raining, so I think I'll go hide under the deck in my favorite spot, maybe then Mom won't be able to find me this afternoon. I'm feeling better today, but she still might want to take me to be checked out to be sure.

Mom's Trip

Mom showed me some pictures from her trip to St. Thomas. I thought I'd share a few with you.

This is where Mom stayed while she was there. There's so much water! I have to tell you, I am not a big fan of water.

Then there were these strange things. Mom said they were iguanas. They are like giant lizards. I used to like to catch snakes and lizards when I was young, but I have to say, these are much bigger than anything I'd want to deal with.

I think he looks pretty ferocious.

Mom said my human sister's wedding was beautiful. She got married on the beach and was barefoot (I think bare feet are ok. I'd sure not want to wear any shoes.) Mom has some pictures online, if you'd like to see them, Click Here.

I like the sand. Just think of all the poopies you could hide in all that sand!

Thanks to everyone who came to see me while my Mom was gone. I would have been very lonely without you!

My Mom's Home!

My Mom is home! My Mom is home! I am soooooo happy now! She got home real late last night, at first I didn't know who was coming in the door so I just stayed in bed (I thought maybe it was just the lady who comes here and stays), but then, I heard my Mom's voice! She came into the room and there she was, my beautiful Mom!

She brought me presents, a catnip banana and GREENIES! This is the first time I had Greenies and they are delicious! Mom only let me have a few, but I wanted to eat the WHOLE bag!

This is me with my catnip banana, but last night it was so late, I was just too tired to play with it (and I was full of whipped cream and Greenies too!).

She even let me have a bite of donut this morning for breakfast. (I think she's feeling real guilty for leaving me so long...)

She told me she had a good time and there were lots of cats there. She met two, Fritz and Kitty. I was a little jealous, but she told me that she loved me best and that Fritz and Kitty were only acquaintances. That's good.

I'm glad she's HOME!

Monday Moping

Here I am moping. I don't feel so mancatly today. My Mom and the guy are leaving tomorrow. They got the suitcases out (oh, oh, not a good sign) and they are going to be gone for six whole days! What am I going to do all that time while they are gone? They say they're going to an island somewhere in the Caribbean for my human sister's wedding. I will be so alone until they get home. The lady who comes when they are gone will be here, but she's just not the same as my Mom! I will miss them until they get home! How can they leave me like this????????????????

Photo Hunters - Walking

Today's photo hunt theme is walking. These days, I tend to sleep more than walk but me and Mom managed to find one of me walking across the yard. This was taken last month when I was doing my yard inspections.

Thanks to everyone who came to my Gotcha Day pawty yesterday. I'm so glad you all enjoyed yourselves and had such a good time.

Friday Gotcha Day!

Today is my Gotcha Day! On May 1, 1991 my Mom and my human sister went to the Humane Society and picked me out and brought home to my forever home.

Thanks to the girls at Zoolatry for this wonderful picture. (Mom really didn't have time right now to do a picture herself so their work is very much appreciated.)

On to the pawty!

We have green niptinis...

and creamtinis too!

There's ham...

Shrimp

fresh crabmeat

and Fancy Feast for your culinary pleasure.

We have lots of whipped cream for dessert too!

We also have catnip and lots of toys to play with.

So, I hope everyone has a great time celebrating my Gotcha Day with me!
