Brownouts

We're currently having a power brownout situation here. Mom says we should be grateful we have enough power to run the furnace, but she's having problems with running our main computer that has all my photos and stuff. Right now she's using the laptop. Internet is spotty, she's trying to keep the cable modem, router and at least the wireless up and running. We're not sure how long we're going to be like this, but I sure hope it's not too long.

Brown out's can be scary. We don't have many in Texas, but have had some in past years. We hope you can stay warm and it does not turn into a black out!

Sorry you're having difficulties.

Sorry to ask, but what is a brownout? We know what a blackout is.

A brownout is when the power gets real low. You have power, but it's not full on. Lights are dim and some higher power things like a microwave won't work.

I've never experienced a brownout before...I hope your power comes back to normal before too long. Are these brownouts scheduled? Do you know in advance when they power will be low?

At least you're staying warm! That's most impawtant!!!

To answer SuziQCat, no this was not scheduled. It was due to high wind storms that we had here yesterday. They've had power outages in the area, but we were lucky and only ended up with a brownout rather than a full outage.

Today's temperature is only 14 degrees so I'm really glad we have heat!

Well that just stinks -I hope that you don't have a complete loss so that you can at least have heat - right now that is the most important. It is cold here too (not sure about now but this morning when I went to work it was 2 above). We will keep our fingers and paws crossed for you to not go from brown to black!

We hope the wind settles down and you warm up. We know what its like to lose your power. It's really common here in Missouri.

Haha! We laughed at Milo and Alfie's comment. We have never heard of brown outs either. We hope your power soon returns to full and that you can keep warm.

You guys are all in the UK aren't you? They probably do a much better job of managing your power there than what they do here. Brownouts are common here, especially in big cities and mostly in the summer when demand for power gets real high.

Today we are back to normal. Mom meant to post something about it, but she's been real busy today and didn't get a chance. I'll make her say something tomorrow.
