Rusty Update

This is Rusty's Mom again. Thought I'd just let everyone know how Rusty's vet visit went. He wasn't horribly constipated, the vet said he could feel waste in his colon, but nothing of any large consequence and nothing that indicated he could have a blockage. Rusty was dehydrated so they gave him fluids. I was given some B-vitamins with iron and also an appetite stimulant for him. This vet told me to stop the lactulose since he felt it was adding to Rusty's dehydration and to add mineral oil to his food instead. So, we'll see how it goes.

Keep your purrs and prayers going for Rusty, I know that he and I really appreciate it.

We're purring for you my friend. Rumblemum says it has helped her to stroke Inigo firmly when the food dish is in front of him, it's encouraged him to eat. She learned that trick from the vet.

Me and my Mom both had cats that lived to 20 and we both ended up giving them sub q fluids daily at home to aid their kidney function=my Mom's cat lived this way for over 5 years...It only took a few minutes and it was totally worth it to us and our babies...Best of luck with sweet Rusty; he is a beautiful boy and I just love him!...I know this is not an easy time, keeping you both in my prayers; sending him kisses and you, big hugs...J
We love you, handsome Rusty and will purr loudly for you to feel better, sweet friend...xoxoxo...Calle, Halle, Sukki

Sending lots of purrs for our Rusty, Chica especially. We add canned pumpkin to food and a little bran, psyllium, flax seed combo to the food for constipation. We also give extra water in the food to make it more mushy in case he doesn't drink enough which can cause constipation. Lots of cat we know lived to 20-22 years.
