Oh, Oh, I'm slippin'

Mom went to the basement storage shelves to get a peanut butter cup. Guess what she found! Someone's been eating them! She says it must be mice. She looked at ME! (I haven't been eating them) and said I must be slippin'!

Well, look how high up on those shelves the boxes of peanut butter cups are! I can't get up that high at MY age! I just CAN'T! Mom needed a ladder to take the picture! So, the Guy says we need to get some traps to catch the mice that I can't catch (and he said it with kind of a sarcastic look, rolling his eyes, like how good is a cat that can't at least catch mice!)

Well, all I got to say is, I'm a bit old to be hunting mice these days. I used to catch them, but at my advanced age (I'll be 19 years old on March 10th) I just can't do that stuff anymore. I'm RETIRED!

I can't believe your mom has the chocolates in the basement! My mom keeps them close by her!

Rusty, yoo have nuffin to feel ashamed abowt. Those meeces are very pesky and very determined. They get anfin' left within reach ~ and anyway, yoo are entitled to take it easy at yoor age.

BTW ~ we put yoor birthday in our diary and we'll be over to pawty wiv yoo! If yoo've still got the meeces, we'll get 'em for yoo! OK?

Aww, we know you'd have gotten em all if you weren't in retirement, buddy.

Our human can't believe those chocolates lasted long enough to be chomped on by mice. Those are her favourites and she'd have eaten them day and night until they were gone. MOL.

Rusty, it's absurd of your human dad to expect you hunt mice. At 19, you must be about close to 90 in human years, maybe even into your 90s. How many 90-year old humans do you see out hunting anything? Gees! You deserve your retirement!

You've earned your nice quiet retirement, Rusty. Don't let the mousies get you down.

Rusty, I think that you have earned the right not to have to hunt mousies!
Just relax and enjoy your retirement and get ready to celebrate your birthday with some yummy whipped cream!

Sometimes you need a little help, Rusty...maybe you could snoopervise the guy when he puts the traps out....

Mice, gotta be the mice, Mom should eat it all at once and not take any chances!

Definitely looks like mice did it to me! It's the way they shred the paper that's telltale. I've seen that before!

Who knew that mice liked peanut butter and chocolate? I guess they'll eat practically anything.

Yes, Rusty -- it would be way too dangerous for you to get up there even if you could. You are clearly innocent. And I agree, you've done enough mouse-hunting in your life, and should just enjoy your retirement.

After a certain age, you are retired from chasing mice and all that stuff. All our senior cats don't do any of that stuff anymore...so the mice run rampant in the house!

Course you shouldn't be expected to catch those pesky mice any more. You need to enjoy your well earned retirement.

Oh yes. We hear you about the retirement.... And why is the chocolate downstairs???? It should be easily accessible to all beans upstairs!

The REALLY amazing thing is that your Mom can actually store the candy. That's been our Mom's favorite candy since she was a very little girl:) It wouldn't make it down our stairs!

You deserve to be retired! Let Dad put out some traps!

You've definitely earned retirement, Rusty, but that doesn't mean you can't still snoopervise when your dad is putting out the traps. My humans had a mouse problem a year or two ago and I refused to do anything more than snoopervise either. The traps didn't work for us, only the poison did.

Looks like mousie nibbles from the tiny shreds of wrappers. Those mousies have good taste in chocolate!

Oh dear! Those bad mice!

Rusty at your grand age your Mom should be catching the mice herself and bringing them to YOU (to deal out the toothy death). Take it easy Rusty. Let your Mom do the work :)

Rusty we agree that you can't be expected to catch mice up that high at your age! We think the beans are a bit crazy if they think you can do that - we don't even know if our younest brother Barney could catch a mouse up that high. Our mom is sad they picked the super tasty peanut butter cups though - she loves those and is sad for your beans that they went to waste!
